About Richard

Richard Six has always loved creating images on paper.  This love led him to a career in architecture, enjoying 40 some years of drawing, designing, searching to find the right line, form, composition to create beautiful structures in Santa Barbara.

He continued his passion when he retired by taking many drawing and painting courses at the city’s School of Extended Learning as well as some private courses. With the guidance of wonderful mentors from these experiences, Richard began developing his skills to find the right line and form to capture the beauty and discipline of the human figure.

His passion has now evolved to find ways to be more expressive   in capturing the human figure and injecting attitude within and among those figures. It has led him to a looser, more abstract sense in his work, balancing his drawing skills with the expressive qualities of color, shape and the paint medium itself.
